Take a look at my work!
Here is a list of projects I’ve worked on to showcase the skills I’ve gained throughout my time at Long Island University. Most of these projects are done using Unity. There are more projects outside game development.
Projects I’ve worked on.
The player controls a Parrot named Presto with the objective of rescuing baby birds that have been separated from their parents. The baby birds have abilities that aid them on their adventure. This project was made for my senior thesis. I worked with a team of classmates over countless hours to make our passion a reality. This took our entire senior year to develop and my main role in the project was programming most of the assets of the game. The game is still a work in progress, but in the future may be continued.
Dead By Daylight Clicker Game
This is one of the homework assignments I’m more proud of because I was able to expand the idea into a full, albeit small game. The aim of the game is to idly collect blood points and purchasing the trophies that represent killers. The survivors of the game act as upgrades to assist the player in gaining more points.
Blind Gunman Game
This game was an experiment to use directional audio in the place of visuals. Enemies will appear in one of 3 directions and the player uses 3 buttons to shoot and defend themselves from the enemies.
Water Flowering Game
For one of my final projects for my Game Development courses I was tasked to creating a simple game without any complexity. The premise is to take care of flowers in a garden. I had spent a lot of time during the COVID-19 pandemic playing the game “OMORI,” so I used that game as a major inspiration in this project. This is an example of the more complex projects I have worked on and I’m proud to showcase my ability to code in more complicated ways.
My experience being a transfer student provided me with a unique experience being able to work on a larger project during my college career. At the time, the program didn’t account for transfers being able to take classes on time. The original class that I had missed out on due to transferring would’ve been able to provide me with more games that use different sets of skills, but was condensed into this project. Others who share the same experience had come together to create a sci-fi RPG game that takes heavy inspiration from the classic game “Earthbound” This project is still a work in progress, but I’ve provided early screenshots of our efforts.
Shift Street
This was the final project to one of my very first game development courses. It did not use Unity, but used Processing which used Java as its coding language. My prior knowledge of Java assisted myself in the class and the creation of this project. The assignment was to create a simple retro game and I wanted to make my project based on space invaders. Processing is required in order to play the game so for convenience there’s an album showcasing the screens within the game.
The project is based off of the Adult Swim show “Tuca & Bertie“ where the player manages an apartment building and attending to the needs of its tenants. The goal of the class is for the professor to emulate an employee of Adult Swim and has hired the class to create a licensed game. I was a part of the programming team and it was the largest team I’ve worked with during my college career at 8 members. The spectacle of communicating and collaborating all of our efforts helped gauge my ability to work in a team.
Movie Poster Project
PSA for Drunk Driving
The project was to make a movie poster and a short video based on the poster. One of my favorite shows is Gurren Lagann and creating the poster and video proved quite difficult because finding high resolution images from the show or movies due to the age of the show. The goal of the other projects were to make Public Service Announcements and they’re based off causes that allow me to express them creatively.
